Qatar to Face Spain Saturday for Bronze at U17 World Men’s Handball Championship

Rabat: The Qatari U17 handball team will face their Spanish counterparts on Saturday, in the third-place match for the bronze medal at the inaugural U17 World Championship being held in Morocco.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari team lost to Germany in the semi-finals with a score of 22-39, while the Spanish team was defeated by Egypt with a score of 28-31. The Qatari team is aiming for a historic achievement by winning the bronze medal at this championship. However, the task will not be easy against a strong Spanish team. The two teams previously met in the group stage of the tournament, where Spain emerged victorious with a score of 41-23.

The Qatari national team qualified for the semi-finals as the best runner-up in the group stage. They finished second in Group B with two victories: 38-30 against Tunisia and 45-24 against South Korea, alongside one loss against Spain. Qatar's advancement to the semi-finals is part of a series of impressive international achievements by Qatari handball, most notably winning the silver medal at the World Championship held in Qatar in 2015.

Following the match between Qatar and Spain for third place and the bronze medal, the final match between Egypt and Germany will conclude the tournament.
