Qatar Participates in UNCTAD Meeting on Investment and Innovation

Geneva: The State of Qatar participated in the 12th session of the Multi-Year Expert Meeting on Investment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Productive Capacity-Building and Sustainable Development, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar was represented by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva, Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah. Her Excellency presented an overview of the UNCTAD World Investment Forum 2026, reaffirming Qatar's commitment to cooperate with UNCTAD in hosting the forum in Doha from October 25 to 27 under the theme "Investing in the Future."

She emphasized that Qatar is working to ensure the forum is held successfully despite current regional crises. The forum will focus on key tracks including global value chains, the digital economy, green transformation, and peace and reconstruction.

Her Excellency addressed the recent regional escalation and its impact on critical infrastructure and gas production facilities. She highlighted the fragility of global supply chains and the effects of geopolitical shocks on the economic resilience of developing countries.

She stressed the need to protect global economic infrastructure and maintain secure trade corridors to ensure continued development and economic security for all nations. Furthermore, she underscored Qatar's strategic position in energy security and investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure. She stated that Qatar is accelerating investments to strengthen its role as a regional hub for innovation and a stabilizing force in global markets, and expressed anticipation of welcoming delegations to Doha in October.
