Qatar Observes World Autism Awareness Day with Focus on Inclusion

Qatar: Qatar's Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities has marked World Autism Awareness Day with an event highlighting inclusion and human dignity. The event, held under the theme "Autism and Humanity - Every Life Has Value," aimed to raise awareness of autism spectrum disorder and promote greater understanding and integration.

According to Qatar News Agency, Fatima Saeed Al Saadi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, said the occasion provided an opportunity to highlight Qatar's progress in supporting people with autism and to advance efforts towards their inclusion in society. She emphasized that this year's theme underscores the dignity and value of individuals with autism as part of a shared human future, especially in the face of misinformation surrounding their lives.

Al Saadi described the event as a call to move beyond limited narratives and to recognize the equal rights and inherent value of people with autism, in line with human rights principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. She added that supporting individuals with autism is essential to collective progress and building a future where differences are respected, dignity is protected, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Additionally, Al Saadi highlighted the role of the Shafallah Center in providing a supportive environment across academic, professional, and social areas, noting Qatar's broader commitment to people with disabilities. This includes efforts through the National Autism Plan, which aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030.
