Qatar Museums Launches Global Rural Exhibition Examining Countryside Living

Beirut: Qatar Museums (QM) announced the opening of the exhibition "Countryside: A Place to Live, Not to Leave," a project exploring rural regions worldwide.

According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition is a collaborative effort by the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and Qatar Preparatory School (QPS), with partners including Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), Hassad Food, and Kahramaa. The exhibition began on October 29, 2025, and will be accessible until June 30, 2026.

The exhibition is co-curated by architects Rem Koolhaas and Samir Bantal, alongside AMO, the research studio of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), involving over 100 international collaborators. HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Thani, NMoQ Director, expressed pride in presenting this informative exhibition, emphasizing its alignment with the museum's mission to explore Qatar's traditions and future possibilities.

Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti, Director General of QFFD, highlighted the exhibition's focus on sustainable development and its role as a platform for stories of resilience and innovation in rural areas. He emphasized the collaborative efforts required to address global challenges like food security and climate adaptation, with QFFD's commitment to empowering rural communities.

Dr. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change affirmed the Ministry's commitment to environmental sustainability through participation in this exhibition. Eng. Ali Hilal Al Kuwari, CEO of Hassad Food, reiterated the importance of sustainable production and food security, reflecting Qatar's vision of development and identity balance.

The exhibition also transforms Qatar Preparatory School's classrooms into research and dialogue spaces, offering a dynamic and evolving educational experience.
