Qatar Hosts First-Ever Arab Mathematics Olympiad Open Day Event.

Doha: Under the theme "Qatar Day for Mathematics," the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) in collaboration with Qatar University organized an open day event, marking the 4th Arab Mathematics Olympiad 2024. This event, which Qatar is hosting for the first time, is aimed at facilitating professional development and encouraging the exchange of experiences among participants. According to Qatar News Agency, the event showcased the latest technologies and modern methods in educational research related to mathematics. Distinguished speakers and lecturers from various higher education institutions in Qatar contributed to the event. There were two main programs designed for team leaders and assistants, as well as participating students. The event hosted a total of 12 scientific lectures on mathematical research and nine specialized training workshops, conducted by faculty from Qatar University and mathematics teachers from public schools. The event included scientific dialogue sessions led by mathem atics experts nominated by ALECSO, professors from Qatar University, and the Community College. Additionally, a STEM Projects exhibition was organized for students from both public and private schools. Arab mathematics scholars from outside Qatar also presented a series of lectures and training workshops during the open day. Assistant Director of Educational Guidance and General Coordinator of the Olympiad Committees, Fatima Al Rashed, highlighted that the open day activities are part of the 4th Arab Mathematics Olympiad. She emphasized that the participation of talented Arab students in mathematics aims to foster creativity and bolster their confidence. The event is designed to involve students in a distinguished scientific gathering that enhances their academic abilities.
