Qatar Engages in Fourth Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights Council.

Geneva: The State of Qatar presented its fourth report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Dr. Hend bint Abdulrahman Al Muftah, led Qatar's delegation, which included representatives from various ministries and national committees. According to Qatar News Agency, the delegation comprised members from the Standing National Committee for the Preparation of Universal Periodic Review Reports, 13 ministries including Foreign Affairs and Interior, as well as representatives from the Supreme Judiciary Council and the National Committee for Women, Children, the Elderly, and Persons with Disabilities. Dr. Al Muftah emphasized Qatar's strategic commitment to human rights, rooted in Islam and Arab culture, and highlighted its integration into national principles such as the Constitution and Qatar National Vision 2030. She further detailed Qatar's initiatives to promote human rights via legislation, policies, and international engagement, and highlighted advancements in education, healthcare, and rights for women, children, and migrant workers. Dr. Al Muftah also underscored Qatar's global role in development and peace efforts, noting its recent re-election to the Human Rights Council for 2025-2027. The review saw participation from 118 countries, with many commending Qatar's human rights efforts and offering observations and recommendations. Members of Qatar's delegation provided insights into their expertise areas and addressed queries from member states.
