Qatar Engages in Arab League Event for Palestinian Solidarity in Cairo

Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in a special event organized by the General Secretariat of the Arab League at its Cairo headquarters to observe the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League, Maryam Ahmed Al Shaibi, led the Qatari delegation at the event.

According to Qatar News Agency, the gathering was aligned with a United Nations General Assembly resolution from 1977, which calls for an annual observance of this day to affirm the Palestinian cause and express solidarity with the Palestinian people's efforts to end occupation and achieve freedom and independence. The event highlighted the importance of establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The event featured speeches of solidarity and screened a short film prepared by the General Secretariat, which depicted the ongoing struggles of the Palestinian people, including ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and deprivation of self-determination due to the prolonged Israeli occupation.

The occasion aimed to emphasize the contributions of those globally who support the Palestinian people and advocate for their legitimate rights, as well as their dedication to humanity, justice, and human rights. Complementing the event, a fine art exhibition showcased photographs focusing on the Palestinian cause, organized in cooperation with the General Secretariat and the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine to the Arab League.

Additionally, the event recognized several institutions for their support of the Palestinian people and honored segments of the Palestinian community for their resilience and sacrifices.
