Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in the 49th session of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, which convened at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States headquarters. The Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of Sports and Youth Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani.
According to Qatar News Agency, the session focused on enhancing joint Arab initiatives in the youth and sports sectors. Discussions included a range of proposals for youth and sports projects and programs scheduled for 2026. Key items on the agenda were programs, activities, and dialogue sessions such as the Fourth Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum, the Ninth Arab-European Cooperation Forum, and the Fourth Arab Youth Parliament Simulation Model. Additionally, the agenda highlighted training courses on artificial intelligence, content creation, cybersecurity, and youth mental health, alongside the Arab Youth Excellence Award and the First Arab Esports Championship.
The Council also considered proposals from the Ministries of Youth and Sports of Arab member states for various youth and sports activities. These included the 10th edition of the Holy Sites Journey Program for Arab and Islamic Youth in Saudi Arabia, the Nile Ship for Arab Youth in Egypt, and the Arab Youth Capital for 2026. Furthermore, initiatives like the Peace Marathon in Somalia, the Arab School Sports Festival in Algeria, and the Arab Women's Clubs Championship in Sharjah were discussed. Manama was noted as the Arab Capital of Sports Culture, along with the upcoming 2026 Sports Games for Specialized Federations.
