Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in the joint Arab meeting on the assessment of legal frameworks and strategies related to the protection and promotion of the rights and needs of victims of terrorism, which began Monday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League and will continue over the course of three days. HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab chaired the Qatari delegation to the meeting.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Ambassador Al Hanzab expressed Qatar's strong condemnation of the organized terrorist escalation by the Israeli occupation, which has resulted in thousands of Palestinian casualties since October 7, 2023. He emphasized that the rights of the victims can only be realized through recognizing the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the June 4, 1967 borders, and urged the international community to stop Israeli aggression and ensure justice for the victims.
HE Ambassador Al Hanzab highlighted that the meeting, featuring high-level participation from member state representatives and officials from joint Arab action bodies, offers a valuable opportunity to shed light on the suffering of victims of terrorist acts. He stressed the importance of acknowledging victims' rights and coordinating support to alleviate their suffering.
He further expressed Qatar's full solidarity with victims and their families, emphasizing the country's commitment to building peaceful, just, and equitable societies. Qatar affirms its adherence to Arab strategies on combating terrorism and addressing victims' concerns, condemning terrorism in all its forms while rejecting attempts to associate it with Islam.
The Special Envoy noted Qatar's policy of moderation and cultural and religious tolerance, emphasizing efforts to promote peace, coexistence, and acceptance among all peoples. He highlighted Qatar's initiatives to foster dialogue among cultures and religions and support international peace and security, ensuring foreign workers' rights and religious freedom.
Ambassador Al Hanzab stated that Qatar has become a global model for promoting tolerance and coexistence, with people of diverse cultures living and working together harmoniously. Qatar supports interfaith and intercultural dialogue, believing that true peace is achieved through respect for diversity.
As a committed member of the international community, Qatar enhances the resilience of victims of terrorism by providing financial, legal, medical, and psychological aid.
