Doha: The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the approval by the Israeli Finance Minister of plans to construct a settlement that would effectively separate East Jerusalem from the occupied West Bank, describing the move as a clear breach of international law and specifically citing UN Security Council Resolution 2334.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement today expressing Qatar's total rejection of Israeli policies that expand settlements and forcibly displace Palestinian residents. The ministry views these actions as an attempt to undermine the establishment of a Palestinian state. It urged the international community to take a united stand to pressure the Israeli government to cease its settlement activities and adhere to international law.

The Ministry reaffirmed Qatar's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and the resilience of the Palestinian people. This position is grounded in international law and the two-state solution, which envisions the creation of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
