Khartoum: Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan affirmed that there is no room for a truce or reconciliation with the rebels.
According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was made by Al Burhan during a speech marking the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Sudanese Armed Forces. He emphasized that Sudan will continue its fight for dignity and aim to defeat the rebellion without compromise or reconciliation, regardless of the cost involved.
Al Burhan further stated that the government remains committed to honoring the sacrifice of those who have fallen in defense of the nation, vowing not to betray the blood of the people, sons, and brothers who have given their lives for Sudan.
The conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023, persists between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Local and international reports indicate that the ongoing violence has led to the deaths of over 20,000 individuals and displaced approximately 14 million people.
The United Nations has stressed the need for safe and unimpeded humanitarian access throughout Sudan and has called upon the international community to increase its support for the country's most vulnerable populations.
