Doha: Qatar Chamber met with a business delegation from Oklahoma to discuss enhancing economic ties and exploring investment opportunities between Qatar and the state. The meeting focused on the potential benefits and incentives available to both sides, aiming to strengthen their collaborative efforts.
According to Qatar News Agency, Second Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba emphasized the robust trade and investment relations between Qatar and the United States. His comments were made during a meeting with a trade delegation led by Oklahoma's Secretary of Commerce, Deborah Moorad Watts. Al Athba highlighted that the bilateral trade volume between the two nations reached approximately QR 20 billion last year, underscoring the US as a significant destination for Qatari investments in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and industry. He noted that 438 U.S. companies operate in Qatar, including 53 fully owned American firms.
Al Athba reiterated Qatar Chamber's dedication to facilitating dialogue between the two business communities to promote long-term partnerships. He expressed interest in attracting more US investors to Qatar, noting that the country offers world-class infrastructure and a competitive investment climate. He identified promising opportunities in sectors like energy, infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, technology, and education, and acknowledged the strong capabilities and ambitious visions of both Qatar and Oklahoma in these areas.
Watts, on her part, noted the similarities between Oklahoma and Qatar, highlighting Oklahoma's leadership in industries such as aerospace, agricultural mechanization, biotechnology, technology, and artificial intelligence. She expressed a desire to foster cooperation with Qatar and to build strategic partnerships between the business communities of both regions.
The US delegation included several government officials and representatives from nine leading American companies across sectors such as investment, petroleum, aerospace, entertainment, and energy.
