This relocation will see the unveiling of a 15,000-square-foot Qatar Airways lounge, marking the airline's first dedicated lounge in both New York City and the United States.
According to Qatar News Agency, the initiative aligns with Qatar Airways' commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience. The new lounge will offer direct access to boarding gates and feature premium amenities such as VIP check-in services, relaxation zones, prayer rooms, children's play areas, and duty-free shopping for Business Class passengers. This development underscores the strategic significance of New York City within Qatar Airways' global network.
In collaboration with Qatar Airways, the New Terminal One aims to enhance the guest experience with its modern architecture, light-filled spaces, and advanced technology, ensuring a seamless customer journey that complements Qatar Airways' renowned onboard services.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Eng. Badr Mohammed Al Meer expressed enthusiasm for the move, highlighting the enhanced experience the new lounge will offer. The New Terminal One is part of a USD 19 billion transformation project by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to elevate JFK Airport into a world-class gateway. The project includes the construction of two new terminals, the modernization of existing terminals, a new ground transportation center, and a simplified roadway network.
Qatar Airways first launched operations in New York in 2008 at Terminal 8, JFK Airport. The airline currently serves over 3 million passengers annually across 11 US destinations, with 18 weekly flights from JFK connecting travelers to over 170 global destinations through its hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha.
