Palestinian Ministry of Education Reports Over 18,000 Students Martyred Since Oct. 7

Ramallah: The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education has reported that 18,489 students have been martyred and 28,854 injured following the onset of Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank starting October 7.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry detailed that in the Gaza Strip alone, over 18,346 students have been martyred, with injuries affecting 27,884. In the West Bank, the number of students martyred stands at 143, with 970 others injured and 740 detained.

The Ministry also highlighted the loss of 970 teachers and administrators, with 4,533 injured across both regions. In addition, more than 199 individuals have been arrested in the West Bank.

The report further indicated that the educational infrastructure has suffered significant damage, with 160 government schools and 63 university buildings completely destroyed in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, 118 government schools and 93 UNRWA schools have been bombed and vandalized, leading to the removal of 25 schools from the educational registry.

In the West Bank, 152 schools were vandalized, and 8 universities and colleges faced repeated raids and vandalism. As a result, university classes have transitioned to an electronic format in response to the ongoing situation.
