Palestinian Detainee from Gaza Died in Israeli Occupation Prisons

Gaza: The Commission of Detainees' and Ex-Detainees' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced today the martyrdom of a detainee from the Gaza Strip in Israeli occupation prisons.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Commission and the Prisoners' Club received a response from the occupation authorities indicating that the detainee was martyred on 9 September last year. The authorities did not provide further details about the circumstances.

The detainee had been arrested at the military checkpoint known as the "Civil Administration" checkpoint in November 2024, despite suffering from health problems, including heart disease, and needing medical care and continuous follow-up.

The statement from the Commission and the Prisoners' Club highlighted that the martyr is one of over one hundred prisoners and detainees who have died in Israeli occupation prisons since the onset of what they describe as the crime of genocide. Among these, the identities of 87 individuals have been revealed, with deaths attributed to widespread torture, starvation, medical crimes, and other abuses, alongside deprivation, dispossession, abuse, and inhumane detention conditions.

As of January, the number of Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation prisons has surpassed 9,300, with the majority held without formal charges or trials.
