Doha: In their editorials on Sunday, Qatari newspapers focused on key local and Arab issues, particularly emphasizing Hamad International Airport's (HIA) role as a prominent global hub and Qatar's strategic humanitarian partnerships.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper highlighted Hamad International Airport's status as a leading global aviation hub, which enhances Qatar's international connectivity. The editorial detailed the airport's integrated travel experience, featuring high-end artworks, luxury shopping, and diverse dining options, alongside modern facilities. Managed by the award-winning Qatar Airways, the airport epitomizes Qatar's commitment to advancing aviation infrastructure. A significant feature is the "Orchard," a 6,000-square-meter indoor tropical garden introduced in 2022, designed as a sustainable sanctuary for travelers. The airport's commitment to sustainability is further evidenced by its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification for the Central Concourse, including the Orchard. Additionally, HIA has been nominated for the World Best Airport award for 2026 by Skytrax and has retained the title of Best Airport in the Middle East for the eleventh consecutive year.
Al-Sharq newspaper, on the other hand, emphasized Qatar's strategic humanitarian initiatives. It underscored Qatar's significant role in humanitarian and development fields through partnerships with friendly nations, prioritizing human welfare over political agendas. The editorial cited Qatar's collaboration with the Republic of Turkiye in sending aid to Sudan, marked by the recent dispatch of the sixth "Goodness Ship" from Mersin International Port, carrying 2,600 tons of humanitarian aid. This effort showcases the depth of Qatari-Turkish cooperation. The aid preparation involved joint coordination between the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), and other entities, exemplifying cross-border humanitarian collaboration.
Al-Sharq concluded by affirming Qatar's dedication to sustainable development and capacity building, with a focus on humanitarian support. This approach underscores the necessity for international cooperation and political commitment to uphold human dignity and ensure a decent life for all.
