Pakistan, Italy PMs Discuss Mideast Developments Amid Rising Hostilities

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday engaged in a phone conversation with his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, to deliberate on the latest developments in the Middle East region.

According to Qatar News Agency, both leaders voiced their grave concerns regarding the ongoing hostilities in Lebanon. They emphasized the necessity of coordinated international efforts to avert further escalation and to foster a sustainable peace in the region.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Meloni lauded Pakistan's effective diplomatic endeavors to mediate a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, as well as efforts to resume dialogue. Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan's dedication to achieving peace and stability, expressing appreciation for the joint statement issued by key European and international leaders backing Pakistan's peace initiatives.

Additionally, Islamabad is set to host delegations from the United States and Iran on Friday. The negotiations aim to reach a final agreement that could contribute significantly to regional peace efforts.
