Doha: Old Doha Port: Old Doha Port has announced the launch of a unique cultural, heritage, and visual experience that takes visitors back in time to the essence of old Doha, through a tour that showcases the life of traditional neighborhoods (Al Furjan).
According to Qatar News Agency, the tour will take visitors on a historical journey spanning the 1930s to the 1950s, introducing them to the origins of Al Furjan, the evolution of architecture, and construction methods of that era. The experience features models that highlight this period, from the days of pearl diving and fishing, to the discovery of oil, which marked the beginning of urban development and shaped the features of modern Doha.
The project also presents a visual documentation of the city's transformation over time, its neighborhoods and markets that have changed, and new landmarks that have emerged, while preserving the spirit of the place and the enduring traditions of its people. It also highlights the closely built homes that fostered a tightly knit community, the mosques that served as centers for gathering, communication, and the promotion of religious and educational values, as well as the role of old markets as engines of daily life and cradles of customs and traditions that formed the authentic Qatari identity.
The port emphasized that the experience offers visitors a rich journey combining knowledge and discovery, allowing them to relive Doha's history and explore its early features in an innovative and interactive way.
