5.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern Kermadec Islands

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale struck south of New Zealand's Kermadec Island on Tuesday: The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, and no tsunami warnings were issued. There have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Kermadec Islands are situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area characterized by intense tectonic activity. This geological setting makes the region prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity.
