OCA President Engages in Strategic Olympic Talks with Malaysian Leaders

Kuala lumpur: HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Qatar Olympic Committee, has conducted high-level discussions in Malaysia aimed at bolstering the Olympic movement across Asia. His Excellency was received by HM Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, King of Malaysia, to explore potential areas for bilateral Olympic cooperation and to discuss the role of sports in promoting unity among different communities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions between the OCA President and Malaysian leaders also addressed initiatives to increase participation in continental and international sporting events. In a separate meeting with HE Prime Minister Dr. Anwar Ibrahim, the focus was on enhancing bilateral relations in the sports sector, specifically through supporting joint programs and projects for the development of Olympic sports.

During the meetings, HE Sheikh Joaan expressed his firm commitment to the Olympic Movement in Malaysia, commending the Malaysian leadership's dedication to sports development and their efforts to elevate Malaysia's profile on the Asian and international sports stage. He also encouraged Malaysia's aspirations to host future events for the Olympic Council of Asia, including the Asian Games, emphasizing the need for comprehensive governmental and institutional backing to ensure the success of these events.
