Number of Palestinian Homicide Victims in Israeli Custody Rises to 87

Gaza: The number of Palestinian homicide victims in Israeli occupation custody since the flare-up of the war of annihilation on the Gaza Strip has soared to 87, following the announcement of a new Palestinian fatality from the Gaza enclave, the Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies reported in a statement Monday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the statement clarified that the number of homicide victims of the prisoner movement since 1967 has heretofore risen to 324, of whom 87 bodies have been identified since the start of the war of extermination, including 51 prisoners from the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli occupation forces continue to commit unarmed prisoners to extrajudicial homicides in its dungeons, in full view of the international community, without any deterrent action against the ongoing atrocities, the statement warned.

It further noted that the Israeli occupation army oftentimes reports deaths among prisoners after long periods, sometimes reaching one and a half years, stressing that following numerous demands from relevant institutions, the occupation confirms the deaths of dozens of Gazans languishing in its dungeons who had been arrested during the war of extermination.

The center elaborated that Israel refuses to account for many prisoners, as the whereabouts of thousands of them remain unknown, whether they are alive or dead.

The statement called on the international community, along with human rights institutions, to undertake their responsibilities, spring into action, and establish investigation commissions to document the homicides and torture inflicted upon the prisoners.

It called for stepping up pressure on the occupation to halt these crimes, urging the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute occupation leaders in war crimes tribunals for their responsibility for what is unfolding inside these dungeons.

Thousands of Palestinians are languishing in Israel's prisons, some of whom have spent decades there, amid reports from human rights and international watchdogs, as well as corroborated testimonies from released prisoners confirming unprecedented inhumane acts engulfing those held.

They are subjected to severe torture, starvation, and deprivation of sleep and medical treatment inside those dungeons, as instructed by the occupation government, which has led to the homicides of dozens of prisoners, with the whereabouts of thousands more yet to be identified.
