Petropavlovsk-kamchatsky: An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia.
According to Qatar News Agency, the quake occurred at a depth of 75.5 km. This seismic event adds to the region's history of geological activity, as the Kamchatka Peninsula is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a broad arc-shaped region known for its intense seismic and volcanic activity.
In recent months, the Kamchatka region has experienced significant seismic activity. Last August, the area recorded 50 earthquakes, one of which measured a substantial 6.5 on the Richter scale.
