Brussels: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) announced its prior knowledge of the United States' decision to reduce its troop presence on the eastern flank of Europe, framing the action as a standard adjustment rather than an extraordinary measure.
According to Qatar News Agency, NATO officials emphasized that modifications to the US force posture are typical and that, despite the latest adjustment, the number of US forces stationed in Europe remains greater than it has been in recent years, particularly since before 2022.
The official reiterated the United States' clear commitment to NATO, highlighting that NATO has comprehensive defense strategies and is actively working to ensure it has the appropriate forces and capabilities to deter potential threats and uphold collective defense.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense had earlier reported the planned reduction, noting that the United States will halt maneuvers of a brigade that operates across several NATO countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary.
