Doha: Msheireb Museums (MM), in collaboration with the Australian Embassy in Doha and Qatar Television, organized an event celebrating diving heritage and the cultural bonds between Qatar and Australia. The event took place at MM's Bin Jelmood House Courtyard and featured the screening of the documentary "Al Nayla: A Journey to the Depths of the Seas and the Secrets of Oyster and Pearl Extraction off Australia's Shores."

According to Qatar News Agency, speakers during the event emphasized the long-standing relationship between Qatar and Australia, particularly their shared cultural heritage linked to pearl-diving traditions. Mohammad Al Yousuf, Operations and Visitor Relations Manager at MM, stated that the event highlights the museum's role in fostering cooperation among cultural enterprises and spotlighting common cultural components between nations.

Mohammed Al Sada shared his experience diving with Australian sailors to search for oysters in Australian waters, an expedition documented in the film. He highlighted the historical and modern parallels between the two nations' diving practices and pearling industries.

Milton Dick, Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, noted the enduring relations between Australia and Qatar and the importance of cultural heritage. He stressed that culture plays a crucial role in international relations, representing shared values and experiences.

HE Ambassador of Australia to the State of Qatar, Shane Flanagan, highlighted the significance of the shared maritime history between the two countries. He remarked that the documentary screened tells a universal story about heritage and resilience, noting the renowned pearling and diving heritage of both the Arabian Gulf and Australia's Kimberley region.
