MCIT Launches 2nd Phase of “Adopt Microsoft Copilot” Program, Honors 1st Batch Graduates

Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) launched the second phase of the adopt Microsoft Copilot program, and at the same time celebrated the graduation of the first batch of the program, in which 9 governmental and semi-governmental entities participated.

According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations Affairs at MCIT Sami Mohammad Al Shammari stated that the goal of this program is to enable the workforce in governmental and semi-governmental entities to use artificial intelligence tools in daily work. He emphasized that the Copilot program represents the first large-scale experiment to integrate generative artificial intelligence tools within governmental entities in Qatar.

Al Shammari highlighted that the first phase of the program achieved notable results, including an adoption rate of 62 percent, more than 9,000 active users, and 1.7 million tasks executed through "Copilot," leading to savings of over 240,000 working hours. Due to the success of its initial phase, the program was expanded to include 17 governmental and semi-governmental entities, offering specialized training programs through the Qatar Digital Academy to ensure employees can effectively use smart tools.

He further noted that deploying artificial intelligence tools in government agencies would enhance Qatar's competitiveness in international digital transformation and government innovation indicators. This collaboration with Microsoft ensures national cadres have access to the latest AI technologies, reflecting the state's commitment to fostering a more innovative and efficient government work environment.

In his opening remarks at the ceremony honoring government agencies participating in the first phase, Al Shammari confirmed their success in adopting advanced technologies to enhance government service efficiency and digital readiness, aligning with the Digital Agenda 2030. The program aims to develop talent and stimulate digital innovation across various sectors in Qatar.

He also pointed out that the program is designed to prepare a future-ready workforce by equipping national cadres with practical skills in using "Copilot." The first phase exceeded its initial goals, demonstrating a high level of interaction and benefit among national cadres across participating entities.

The second phase of the program, under the Qatar Digital Academy, will include 17 additional government entities. It will build on the lessons from the first phase, aiming to expand the program's success and enhance training quality based on accumulated experiences and data.

General Manager of Microsoft Qatar, Lana Khalaf, addressed the program's importance and its impact on Qatar, praising the cooperation between MCIT and Microsoft. She stressed that the adopt Microsoft Copilot program has become a vital AI tool for employees and government institutions, integrating seamlessly into the workflow and enhancing digital skills.

During the ceremony, representatives of the entities participating in the first batch were honored, expressing satisfaction with the knowledge and skills acquired, contributing to improved service delivery and digital skills in the work environment.
