Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake Strikes Northwestern Pakistan

Prachinar: An earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitude on the Richter scale struck northwestern Prachinar, northwest of Pakistan. US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the epicenter of the quake was located at a depth of 35 kilometers.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far. Earthquakes are common in Pakistan, as the country lies on the border between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. A devastating earthquake measuring 7.6 magnitude struck the country in 2005 and killed thousands of people.
