Egyptian and Turkish Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed, in a telephone call Monday with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, strengthening bilateral relations, developments in the Gaza Strip and Sudan, as well as several issues of common concern.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Abdelatty stressed the necessity of implementing the requirements of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan regarding the Gaza Strip, supporting the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and deploying an international stabilization force (ISF) to monitor the ceasefire.

He stressed the importance of paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction and ensuring the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian Minister also emphasized the importance of pushing toward a humanitarian truce as a prelude to a comprehensive ceasefire in Sudan, underscoring the need to preserve Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and support its national institutions.

He further highlighted the importance of providing safe havens and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.

The call also addressed ongoing preparations for the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, to be chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as part of advancing the bilateral partnership, particularly in the economic, commercial, and investment fields, in pursuit of serving the common interests of the two countries.
