Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday Papua New Guinea.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the epicenter of the quake was located 193 kilometers southeast of Kokopo, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Papua New Guinea is situated in the Ring of Fire, a region that stretches along the Pacific coast and is known for its high seismic and volcanic activity. This region contains 90 percent of the world's active volcanoes.
