Lebanese Prime Minister Rules Out Possibility of Achieving Stability in Lebanon As long As Israeli Violations Continue

Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has ruled out the possibility of achieving stability in Lebanon as long as Israeli violations continue, the occupation of parts of Lebanese territories persists, and Lebanese prisoners remain in Israeli prisons.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a speech delivered on Wednesday, Salam expressed that his government is intensifying political and diplomatic efforts to implement Resolution 1701. He affirmed that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the return of Lebanese citizens to their homeland and to reconstruct areas destroyed by the Israeli occupation during its aggression against Lebanon.

The Lebanese Prime Minister highlighted that over the past five years, Lebanon has suffered an unprecedented crisis impacting all facets of life. The Lebanese pound has plummeted by more than 98 percent in value, the banking sector has collapsed, basic services have deteriorated, the poverty rate has surged to 33 percent, and the economy has contracted by approximately 40 percent compared to 2019.

Salam also pointed out that the situation worsened following the Beirut Port explosion in 2020, which resulted in extensive human and material destruction, and the recent war that claimed thousands of lives and caused damages exceeding $14 billion. He stressed that effective reform is essential to establish a modern state, restore public confidence, and gain international trust.
