Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam met on Friday with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, where their discussions focused on the situation in southern Lebanon and the phase following the conclusion of UNIFIL's mandate.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Lebanese Prime Minister stated that "the government has completed a package of reforms, particularly in the financial and administrative sectors, and is working to finalize the draft law addressing the financial gap as soon as possible."
Salam added that "the new phase following the Gaza agreement and the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit presents a real opportunity, yet stability will remain elusive without a genuine and just peace process leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state."
For his part, the German Foreign Minister reaffirmed Germany's readiness to stand by Lebanon and support the Lebanese Army during the upcoming international conference, stressing the importance of the Lebanese government's continued implementation of financial and administrative reforms and the finalization of the IMF agreement, which is crucial for restoring international confidence and advancing economic recovery.
