Beirut: The Lebanese Army announced on Thursday the arrest of an armed cell affiliated with the ISIS group that was planning to carry out attacks against the military.
According to Qatar News Agency, the army stated that as part of ongoing surveillance and security operations targeting militant groups, the Directorate of Intelligence conducted a series of security raids resulting in the arrest of three individuals for forming a cell supportive of ISIS.
Initial investigations revealed that the cell was plotting security operations against the army under the direction of ISIS leaders based abroad. The army added that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the cell.
