Doha: Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Shahin engaged in a phone call to discuss strategies to halt the Israeli actions in Gaza.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions centered on the urgent need for joint efforts to cease the Israeli actions in Gaza immediately. The ministers highlighted the importance of reaching a prisoner exchange agreement and ensuring the swift and sufficient delivery of aid to Gaza, which is facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing situation.
Both officials also emphasized the necessity to stop unlawful and illegitimate Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, cautioning that these actions could further escalate tensions.
Safadi reaffirmed that the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the sole path to resolving the conflict. He stressed that this approach, based on the two-state solution and in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, is essential for achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
