Doha: Italy has suspended a defense agreement with Israeli occupation, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has revealed. Speaking to reporters at an event in Verona, the premier stated that her government has decided to “suspend the automatic renewal” of the deal under which the two sides would exchange military equipment and technological research. She noted that the decision was taken “in consideration of the current situation”.
According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement, which originally came into force in 2016, was subject to renewal every five years. This suspension marks a significant shift in the defense relations between Italy and Israel, reflecting the broader geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region.
