Israeli Airstrike on Khan Yunis Kills Two Palestinian Journalists

Gaza: Two Palestinian journalists were killed, one of them from wounds sustained in an Israeli airstrike on Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip, and the other from being shot by Israeli forces while in his tent west of Khan Yunis.

According to Qatar News Agency, medical sources reported that journalist Ahmed Abu Aziz, who worked for the local Quds News Network and other media outlets, died of wounds he sustained when the Israeli occupation forces bombed Nasser Hospital. The attack resulted in the deaths of 20 Palestinians, including journalists, civil defense personnel, and a doctor.

Journalist Hassan Douhan, a correspondent for the local Al Hayat Al Jadida newspaper, was also killed by an Israeli army bullet while he was in his tent in the Al Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Government Media Office stated that with the death of journalists Abu Aziz and Douhan, the number of Palestinian journalists killed since the beginning of the Israeli occupation army's aggression on the Gaza Strip has risen to 246. The office condemned the Israeli occupation's systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists and urged the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all bodies concerned with protecting journalists and media freedom worldwide to condemn these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in the Gaza Strip.

During its aggression on Gaza, the occupying forces deliberately targeted journalists and media outlets, wounding nearly 400 journalists, arresting 40 others, and destroying the majority of the headquarters of local and international media outlets operating in the Strip. They also forced all local radio stations to close due to displacement and the lack of essential journalistic resources, especially electricity and internet access.
