Iran Urges UN to Address Israeli Aggression Promptly

Doha: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called, in a phone call with United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres, for immediate action to be taken against the Israeli occupation for inciting war. During the call, Araghchi stressed that the Israeli attack constituted a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, describing it as a clear act of aggression against his country. He affirmed Tehran’s determination to defend itself in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

According to Qatar News Agency, Araghchi emphasized the need for the UN Security Council and the United Nations as a whole to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security, strongly condemning the attack and taking immediate, concrete measures to hold Israel accountable for its assault on Iran.

For his part, Guterres condemned the Israeli attack on Iran, particularly the strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities during ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington. He affirmed that he would use the full capacity of the United Nations to help prevent an escalation of tensions and to restore peace and stability in the region.
