Hamas Criticizes Trump’s Remarks as Disruptive to Gaza Negotiations

Doha: A senior Hamas official has criticized recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, stating they are inconsistent with the ongoing indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel regarding the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release.

According to Nam News Network, Izzat al-Rishq, a senior Hamas official, expressed surprise at President Trump's statements, arguing they contradict the mediators' assessment of the movement's position and do not align with the negotiation process. Al-Rishq made these comments in a press statement, highlighting the disparity between Trump's remarks and the progress reported by mediators.

The negotiations, which have been taking place in Doha, Qatar, have reportedly seen progress recently. Al-Rishq claimed that both Qatar and Egypt, acting as mediators, have acknowledged Hamas's serious and constructive stance in the talks.

Despite the reported progress, no official breakthrough has been announced after weeks of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Doha. On Thursday, Israel recalled its negotiating team from Doha for consultations following Hamas's response to a new ceasefire proposal presented by the mediators.
