Cairo: The third edition of the Global Congress on Population, Health, and Human Development (PHDC'25) opened on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt. The four-day gathering is held under the theme "Empowering People. Advancing Progress. Unlocking Opportunities."
According to Qatar News Agency, the conference aims to address challenges and opportunities in areas including universal health, population dynamics, migration, medical tourism, youth empowerment, education, artificial intelligence, and the health-care economy. Organizers say the goal is to develop sustainable visions and policies that promote human dignity, equality, and inclusive development. Participants include global leaders, policymakers, international experts, and innovators.
Sessions will explore global health issues by linking health with education, housing, and the economy, and by adopting fair policies to improve the quality of life. Discussions also focus on universal health coverage through stronger health systems that ensure affordable, high-quality services, supported by improved financing, governance, and workforce development.
Other themes include the economics of care and inclusive growth, highlighting the social and economic value of caregiving, expanding women's participation as a pillar of sustainable development, and strengthening social protection and economic justice. The agenda emphasizes expanding access to services and opportunities to reduce poverty and narrow social gaps.
