Germany to Supply Ukraine with Two Additional Patriot Systems

Berlin: The German government announced today that it will deliver two additional Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, as part of an agreement with the United States to expedite Berlin's acquisition of the latest versions of this defense system in exchange for support for Kyiv.

According to Qatar News Agency, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius explained in an official statement that "the American commitment allows Germany to support Ukraine in the first phase with launchers, to be followed later by additional components for the Patriot system." He indicated that the German army will begin delivering the launchers in the coming days, with the entire system to be completed within two to three months.

Under the agreement, Germany will receive new Patriot systems from the United States on an accelerated basis, with Berlin covering the financing. This military support comes amid escalating Russian air attacks on Ukrainian territory, which increases the need to strengthen Kyiv's air defense capabilities, especially given the effectiveness of the Patriot system in intercepting and destroying ballistic missiles.

Germany had previously delivered three Patriot systems to Ukraine, and the government confirmed in its statement today that sending more systems would not affect Berlin's defense commitments to NATO.
