European Stock Indices Decline at Close of Trading Amid Healthcare Stock Slump

Cairo: European stock indices experienced a downturn as trading closed on Thursday, primarily influenced by a decrease in healthcare stocks. Investors were keenly assessing the earnings report of the artificial intelligence company Nvidia, which played a significant role in the market dynamics.

According to Qatar News Agency, the pan-European Stoxx 600 index saw a decrease of 0.2 percent, reversing its earlier gains. The European semiconductor sector displayed mixed performance as market participants scrutinized Nvidia's data center forecasts. These projections fell short of some analysts' expectations, contributing to the mixed sentiment. Notably, Nvidia's forecasts omitted potential sales in China, a decision that drew attention from investors.

Healthcare stocks suffered a decline of 0.8 percent, with Sanofi's shares dropping by 1.4 percent. The market also reacted to Delivery Hero's announcement of a reduced full-year adjusted earnings forecast last Wednesday, leading to a significant 5.9 percent fall in its shares.
