Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a phone call today with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to discuss recent regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, El Sisi reviewed Egypt's intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, facilitate the entry of humanitarian and relief aid, and secure the release of hostages and prisoners.

Both sides firmly rejected any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land, stressing that the only path to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region lies in granting the Palestinian people their legitimate right to establish an independent state within the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

The two leaders also discussed a number of priority issues, including cooperation in the fields of energy, electrical interconnection, maritime border delimitation, and combating illegal migration.
