Egyptian Foreign Minister Engages in Talks to Address Middle East Tensions

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East and ways to de-escalate tensions in telephone calls with several of his counterparts.

According to Qatar News Agency, during his calls with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noel Barrot; Omani Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi; Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi; and US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, Abdelatty stressed the need to work towards de-escalation and achieving calm to prevent the region from descending into instability and chaos. He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for prioritizing diplomatic solutions and reaching political settlements that support regional security and stability.

These parties also exchanged views and assessments regarding developments in Gaza and the transition to the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan, stressing the need to move forward with implementing the requirements of this phase, including the start of the work of the Palestinian technocrat committee following the announcement of its formation, the deployment of the international stabilization force to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire, the achievement of the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and paving the way for the early recovery and reconstruction phase, as well as emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination and consultation among all parties during the coming period in a way that contributes to supporting security and stability in Gaza and the region.
