Egyptian and French Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, engaged in a phone conversation to deliberate on the recent regional developments, focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Minister updated Barrot on the ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations and the diminishing humanitarian aid in the region. He emphasized the necessity for a swift ceasefire agreement and called on the international community to address the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, amidst the continuous Israeli military actions.

The discussions between the two ministers also covered the forthcoming high-level international conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to a just and sustainable resolution, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, Abdelatty and Barrot acknowledged the need for unified regional and international efforts to solidify the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, reduce tensions, and explore diplomatic solutions concerning Iran's nuclear program.
