Surigao del Sur: An earthquake measuring 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday Surigao del Sur province, Philippines. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 69 km from the Cagwait area in the province, at a depth of 100 km, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported. There have been no reports of casualties or material losses as a result of the earthquake so far. According to Qatar News Agency, on Nov. 19, an earthquake of 5.0-magnitude struck the Pondaguitan area in the southern Philippines. The Philippines is witnessing increased volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' in the Pacific Ocean, where tectonic plates intersect.
