Beijing: The China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced Tuesday that the Shenzhou-21 crew has completed its first series of extravehicular activities (EVAs) aboard the China Space Station (CSSS).
According to Qatar News Agency, CNSA stated that the three astronauts, Zhang Lu, Wu Fei, and Zhang Hongzhang, completed their tasks with the assistance of a robotic arm on the station and a ground team.
The agency added that Zhang Lu and Wu Fei, who were tasked with conducting spacewalks, completed an inspection and photograph of the Shenzhou-20 return capsule window, installed a debris shield on the space station, and replaced the multi-layer cover on the thermal control converter.
It is noted that during the Shenzhou-21 manned mission, extravehicular activities involving crew members and application payloads are planned, in addition to carrying out scientific experiments and technical tests. Depending on the circumstances, the crew may also perform protective operations on the damaged window of the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft.
