Iraq: Iraq assistant coach Rene Meulensteen said his team is aiming for victory against Sudan tomorrow at Stadium 974 in the second round of Group D at the Arab Cup FIFA Qatar 2025. Meulensteen told the press that head coach Graham Arnold approaches each match separately, noting that Sudan are a strong and balanced side who earned a valuable draw against Algeria in their opener.
According to Qatar News Agency, Meulensteen stressed the need for focus, solid football, and replicating the energy shown against Bahrain, adding that new players may be given minutes to manage the group stage ahead of their decisive clash with Algeria. Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah said his team wants to maintain its qualification chances following the draw with Algeria.
He admitted the task against Iraq will be tough and requires high preparation and a different tactical approach. Appiah acknowledged the challenges posed by the absence of a domestic league and key players, adding that the focus has been on the squad's mentality and gaining experience ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Sudan's John Mano affirmed the team's readiness for all scenarios and their determination to claim three points, thanking fans for their strong support and expressing hope to make them proud.
