Doha: The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN), a member of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, organized an awareness workshop titled "Care for Your Children" in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar University. The workshop targeted social workers and teachers in both public and private schools, as well as a number of parents and a select group of experts and individuals concerned with child protection issues.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event aimed to raise awareness among school social workers and parents about the causes of family neglect and ways to prevent it. It also introduced participants to the social services offered by AMAN to support families and protect children, with the ultimate goal of reducing cases of violence and neglect against children.
In this context, Acting Executive Director of AMAN, Fadel bin Mohammed Al Kaabi, stressed the importance of focusing on the role of school social workers in promoting social protection awareness, as schools represent a second home for children and play a key role in shaping the generation that will build the future. He emphasized the need to raise awareness about issues that negatively impact a child's mental health, personality, and behavior, noting that children need positive energy and encouraging words both at home and at school.
For her part, Director of the Community Awareness Department at AMAN, Bakhita Al Ghiyathin, highlighted the importance of promoting awareness about all matters related to child protection, rehabilitation, and safety. She noted that care for children begins at home, is reinforced at school, and continues through friendships, adding that the workshop focuses on raising public awareness about the consequences of family breakdown to build a society that prioritizes child protection.
Director of Communication and Media Office at AMAN, Hanan Al Ali, emphasized the importance of using positive communication methods with children. She added that they, at AMAN, are committed to producing a series of awareness messages and videos through their social media platforms targeted at the general public, parents, teachers, and school social workers. These materials guide on how to engage with children, care for them, and help build their self-confidence so they can grow into strong individuals capable of solving problems they may face.
The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN) was established in 2013 with the mission of raising awareness and promoting protection and rehabilitation for women and children in Qatar. The center works to support victims of violence and family breakdown, reintegrating them into their families and communities.
