Al-Raya Hails Doha Metro as Vital Driver of Development

Doha: Over seven years of operation, the Doha Metro has evolved into one of Qatar's most significant strategic achievements and a benchmark for modern public transportation in the region. Carrying nearly 292 million passengers to date, the network has emerged as a central pillar of the country's urban transformation, delivering world-class efficiency, exceptional customer satisfaction, and a sustainable mobility model that continues to earn growing public trust, Qatari daily Al-Raya said.

According to Qatar News Agency, in an editorial titled "Doha Metro: A Vital Driver of Development," Al-Raya said the seamless integration of MetroExpress and Metrolink services has enhanced nationwide connectivity and improved access to key destinations, creating a more efficient and flexible transportation ecosystem. The newspaper added that the achievement has further reinforced Qatar Rail's position as a leading national model for smart mobility and sustainable urban development.

The editorial stressed that the Doha Metro has become far more than a modern transit system, describing it as a driving force behind development and mobility in Qatar and a prominent symbol of the country's rapid infrastructure advancement in line with the highest international standards.

It noted that the integrated metro network, linking major districts and strategic destinations across the country, has fundamentally transformed urban mobility by offering smart, safe, and sustainable transportation solutions that reduce congestion, shorten travel times, and improve quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

According to the newspaper, the project reflects Qatar's success in building an advanced transportation system rooted in operational excellence, innovation, and sustainability, in alignment with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The editorial further emphasized that the Doha Metro's impact extends well beyond daily commuting, playing a pivotal role in strengthening Qatar's ability to host major international events, particularly global sporting tournaments and international conferences. Through fast, reliable, and environmentally sustainable transport services, the metro has enabled the smooth movement of large crowds while enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The paper noted that the network has contributed to the success of more than 40 major events hosted by Qatar in recent years, reinforcing the country's reputation as a global destination with sophisticated infrastructure capable of delivering world-class events with exceptional professionalism.

The editorial also highlighted Qatar Rail's pride in the metro's accomplishments, noting that the network now includes 37 stations connecting the country's most vital areas, significantly improving mobility and reducing travel times across the country.

It pointed to the metro's outstanding operational indicators, including a key performance rate of 99.83% and a customer satisfaction rate of 99.90%, saying the figures reflect both operational excellence and the high quality of services provided to passengers.

The newspaper concluded by affirming that the Doha Metro has established itself as a defining landmark in the transportation sector and a model for modern transit systems at both the regional and international levels.
