Doha: The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) has announced that the Saudi city of Abha will host the Gulf U-19 youth championship, replacing Taif Governorate. The tournament will be held from August 28 to September 9, 2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Federation stated that this decision is part of the joint coordination between the AGCFF and the Saudi federation, aligning with the Saudi federation's commitment to providing optimal organizational and technical conditions for the tournament. Abha is noted for its suitable sports infrastructure and moderate climate during the summer, both of which are expected to contribute to the success of the tournament.
The AGCFF also mentioned that the tournament draw is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, with further details, including the match schedule and host stadiums in Abha, to be announced subsequently.
Eight Gulf teams will compete in this edition of the tournament: Saudi Arabia (host), Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Yemen.
This tournament is anticipated to showcase strong competition among the participating teams as they prepare for upcoming continental and international youth events. It is regarded as one of the key football events for youth in the Gulf region, playing a significant role in developing football talent and enhancing competition among Gulf teams, in line with a shared vision to support youth football.
