Yakutat: An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale struck the Yakutat region of Alaska.
According to Qatar News Agency, the quake occurred at a depth of five km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.
Alaska sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire where tectonic plates converge, leading to intense seismic and volcanic activity.
