5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Southern Spain

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Monday off the southern coast of Spain. The seismic event was recorded 21 km southeast of the town of San Jose at a depth of 10 km.

According to Qatar News Agency, there were no initial reports of injuries or damage, and no tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake. The region has experienced seismic activity in the past, with a notable event occurring in 2011. That earthquake, which measured 5.1 on the Richter scale, struck the Spanish city of Lorca and resulted in nine fatalities.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and local residents have been advised to remain alert for any aftershocks that might occur. Emergency services are on standby, ready to respond if needed.
